Search engine optimisation (SEO) is one of those services where the price is hard to pin down. Quotes range from a few hundred to several thousand euros a month, and it is not always clear what you are paying for. Here is what drives the price and what to ask before you sign anything.
How is SEO priced?
There are usually three models:
- Monthly retainer. A fixed monthly fee for an agreed amount of work, such as content, technical fixes and a report. The most common model for small and mid-sized businesses.
- Project. A one-off fee, for example for a technical audit or a site overhaul. Suits a single, clear fix.
- Hourly. For consulting and specialist work. Hard to predict the total cost.
What affects the price?
- Competition. In a crowded field, more work is needed.
- Site condition. Technical fixes take time if the basics are broken.
- Amount of content. Every new article or service page is its own piece of work.
- Geography. Local visibility in one region is lighter than going national.
- Goal. Getting more calls is different from growing visitor numbers.
What should a quote tell you?
A good quote says clearly what the monthly fee covers. Always ask:
- What work is done each month, and by whom?
- Will I get a report, and does it tell me more than rankings?
- Who owns the site and content if the contract ends?
- How long is the contract, and can I end it?
- Are the Google Business Profile and local visibility included?
Watch out for
- A promise of first place. Nobody can promise a ranking, because Google decides the order.
- A vague "SEO package" with no description of the work.
- A report that shows charts but not what was done.
- A contract after which the site is no longer yours.
What about AI visibility?
More and more customers ask ChatGPT or Google’s AI who to hire. Good SEO work relies on the same things: clear pages, consistent details and genuine reviews. Ask your provider whether they take AI answers into account, not only traditional search results.
What do we charge?
Our pricing is clear. Basic starts at €259 a month and Pro is €399 a month. The price includes a new website, hosting, the licence and continuous improvement. All agreements run for 12 months and prices exclude VAT. See the pricing page for exact contents.
Frequently asked questions
Is SEO worth it for a small business?
Yes, if customers look for your services on Google or from AI. For a local business SEO is often the most effective way to get calls, because searchers are already ready to buy.
How fast does SEO deliver results?
Visibility builds over months, not weeks. Don’t trust a provider who promises results within days.
Can I do SEO myself?
You can handle the basics yourself, and you should. They do take time though, and the work easily gets dropped in the middle of daily routines. That is why many outsource it.
